Venpongal/ Khara Pongal

- 1 cup Rice
- 1/2 cup Moong dal
- 4 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tbsp Pepper
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tsp Chopped ginger
- Curry leaves
- 10 Cashews
Wash rice and dal. Pressure cook it adding 3 cups water for upto 4 whistles.
Once the pressure is down open the lid. Gently mash it and add sufficient water, salt. Keep in low flame.
In a kadai melt ghee and add all the tempering ingredients. Let the ginger get cooked nicely.
Add this to the pongal and combine well.
Serve hot with coconut chutney.
