Veg Biryani Recipe in Cooker/ How to make Veg Biryani in Cooker
Biryani is an evergreen dish which makes everyone mouth watering. The rice and the veggies are cooked in aromatic spices and there are several preparation methods across country. Here I have given a variety of biriyani which is prepared usually in Kerala. The richness of coconut milk enhances the taste to the core. This method of cooking in a pressure cooker can make your job easy and you can get that perfect fluffy biryani in no time. Learn how to make this tasty Veg biryani in cooker with stepwise pics.
- 1 cup Basmati Rice washed, drained and kept for 30 mins.
- 2 cups Chopped veggies Carrot, brand, potato, peas
- 1 handful Mint leaves
- 1 handful Coriander leaves
- 2 big Green chillies
- 1.5 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1 big Onion sliced
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1/2 inch Cinnamon
- 1 Bay leaf
- 2 Cardamon
- 3 Cloves
- 2 Stone flower
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1.5 cup Coconut milk (thick)
Chop the veggies and keep ready.
In a pressure cooker heat oil and ghee. Add bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamon, cloves and stone flower.
Add onions and saute till it turns transparent. Now add the ginger garlic paste. Saute till the raw smell goes.
Add all the veggies (except peas), turmeric powder and sufficient salt. Cook till the veggies are partially cooked.
Now add peas, mint and coriander leaves. Cook till the veggies are cooked upto 75%.
Now add the soaked rice and mix well.
Add the coconut milk and sufficient salt. (if you don't have coconut milk, you can add full fat milk also.). Cook in medium flame for 15-20 mins or upto 1 whistle. Wait for the pressure to come down.
