Prawn Jalfrezi Recipe

Jalfrezi is a dish origianting in the Indian sub continent, which means the meat or veggies are cooked with fresh chillie, tomatoes and onions. Prawn Jalfrezi is a very easy to make Indian seafood recipe. Cooking prawns always need some care because if we overcook it becomes rubbery. Prawns has always been my favourite and since it has become my daughters favourite too, I cook it very often these days. I experiment many recipes with prawns and whatever I try it always turns to be a hit. You can also try the recipe with Chicken, Paneer or mixed vegetables. Learn how to make this tasty Prawn jalfrezi with stepwise pics.

Recipe Notes

Add turmeric, chilli powder, salt and lemon juice to prawns. Let it marinate.

Cut and keep all veggies ready.

In a kadai heat oil and fry cubed onions and capsicum. Cook till onion turns brown. Remove it separately.

In the same kadai splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add chopped garlic, ginger, sliced chilly and curry leaves. Saute for 2 mins.

Add chopped onions and cook till it turns translucent.

Add honey, tomatoes and salt. Cook for 2 mins.

Add marinated prawns, cooked onions and capsicum, coriander leaves and mix well. Cook till it absorbs all the water and becomes little dry. Make sure the prawns are not overcooked. (It took nearly 6-7 mins for the prawns to turn soft).

Prawn Jalfrezi is ready to be served.
