Paneer Thokku/ Paneer masala/ Tasty side dish for Chapathi/ Dosa/ Appam
Paneer thokku is a very simple dish which can be made in no time. Thokku is nothing but a variation of pickle usually prepared in South India. The same preparation method can be used for any other vegetable or even for prawns. Generous amount of gingelly oil is used for this dish so that it stays good for upto 3 days. - 200 gms Paneer cut into cubes
- 2 big Onions Finely chopped
- 3 Tomatoes Finely chopped
- 2 Green chillies
- 1 tbsp Crushed ginger garlic
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds
- 1 piece Cinnamon
- Coriander leaves
- 3 tbsp Gingelly oil
In a kadai heat 1 tbsp oil, add turmeric powder and 1 tsp chilly powder. Add paneer cubes and mix evenly. Let it cook for 2-3 mins. Remove it separately.
Heat the remaining oil and add cinnamon and fennel seeds. Add onions and cook till it turns nice golden brown.
Now add green chilly and tomatoes. Add sufficient salt and cook for 2 mins.
Add ginger garlic paste and coriander leaves. Cook till the raw smell goes.
Add coriander powder and chilly powder and cook for 2 mins. Now add 1/2 glass water and let it boil. Check for salt.
Now add the cooked paneer and keep cooking in low flame. Cook till the oil oozes out.
Tasty and easy paneer thokku is ready. This tastes very good with dosa/ chapathi or parotta.
