- 1 small bundle Spinach / Palak
- 1 big Onion
- 1 medium tomato
- 12 Garlic
- 1/2 cup Toor dal
- a small lemon size Tamarind soaked in water
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1/4 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp Sambar powder
- 1/8 tsp Asafoetida
Cut and keep all veggies ready.
Pressure cook dal adding sufficient water and asafoetida for upto 4 whistles.
In a kadai heat oil , splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add onion and saute till golden brown.
Add tomatoes, palak and sugar. Saute till all the water is absorbed.
Add this palak, sambar powder, turmeric powder, tamarind extract and salt to the cooked dal. Add sufficient water and check for salt.
Let it come to boil.
Tasty and healthy Palak sambar is ready.
