Oats and Dates Porridge with Roasted Bananas and Walnuts - Superhealthy Breakfast for Pregnant ladies/ Pregnancy special recipes
Oats is packed with fibre and it also contains folic acid and iron which are very crucial for pregnant women. It is considered as a superfood during pregnancysince it serves most of the benefits required during the prenatal period. You can try variety of dishes using oats and this one is a very simple yet tasty porridge which you can try with different fruits and flavours of your choice. I have used Nendran bananas for topping, (for some people this variety may cause constipation) but you can choose any banana or fruits depending on the availability. Walnuts are rich in antioxidants and it is a good source of omega 3 which is very good for the brain of the tender foetus. Let us see how to make this power packed Oats porridge.
- 1/4 cup Oats
- 1 cup Water
- 5-6 Dates chopped
- 1 banana sliced
- 5 Walnuts chopped
- Coconut sugar or any sweetener optional
- 1 cup Milk
Take water in a cooking pan and bring it to boil. Once it is boiled add oats and let it cook in low flame for 10-15 mins.
Atlast add the pitted dates. If you are adding any sweetener then you can add at this stage. Switch off the flame.
Add the boiled milk and mix well without any lumps.
Heat a tawa and apply little butter. Roast the bananas until it is cooked nicely on both the sides.
Pour oats in a serving bowl and top it with the roasted bananas and chopped walnuts. Healthy porridge is ready.
