Moong Dal Khichdi

Ingredients:

  • Moong dal – 1/2 cup
  • Rice – 3/4 cup
  • Ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Sliced onion – 1
  • Green chilly – 4( Since its for my kid I have added only one)
  • Chopped ginger – 1 tbsp
  • Chopped tomato – 1
  • Chopped cauliflower – 1/4 cup
  • Green peas – 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Salt
  • Sabji masala – 1 tsp (u can add any masala of ur choice or u can skip it also)
  • Coriander leaves

Method:

In a cooker heat oil, add cumin seeds, onions, ginger and chillies. Saute it.

Add chopped tomatoes, cauliflower and peas. Cook it for 2 mins. Add turmeric powder and sabji masala.

 

Add washed rice and dal. Add chopped coriander leaves.

Add 3 cups of water and sufficient salt. Cook for 4 whistles.

Once the pressure is down open the lid and add ghee and mix it well.

Serve with some boondi raita or chilly pickle.
