Laukhi Dal/ Sorakkai Paruppu Kuzhambu
When it comes to a healthy vegetable we all are always confused about the preparation. Because it costs some efforts to make it tasty. And about laukhi we feel it tastes good only when it turns into koftas or halwa...For all those who want to eat healthy yet tasty , try this simple dal recipe. It is very easy to prepare and goes perfectly with dosas.
- 1 cup Moong dal
- 1 cup Chopped bottle gourd
- 3 Onions Finely chopped
- 2 Tomato Chopped
- 6 Garlic chopped
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1 tbsp ghee
- Coriander leaves a handful
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
Add sufficient water and pressure cook dal for 3-4 whistles.
In a kadai heat oil, splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add chopped onions and garlic saute till it becomes soft.
Add laukhi and tomatoes. Add salt and saute. Cover and cook tilt becomes soft.
Add chilly, turmeric powder and hing. Mix well and cook for 3 mins.
Now add cooked dal, sufficient water and chopped coriander leaves. Let it boil for 5mins. Check for salt in the meanwhile.
Easy and simple dal is ready. Add ghee and serve with dosa/ rice.
