Knol khol Korma/ Kohlrabi Curry for Chapathi
Knol khol or Kohlrabi is also known as German Turnip. This vegetable has a very high potassium content. Since it was never available at my hometown I never tasted it before. First time I saw this veggie in Bangalore markets and bought it. I used to cook it with other veggies and add it in sambar. ' Neccessity is the mother of invention..' this has happened with me many times. Like that one day I had only some knol khol left in the fridge and I wanted to prepare some gravy for chapati. So I tried this curry and it came out soo good. From then I use to prepare this curry regularly, as it is also very good for health it is good to include it in your diet in a tasty form. Ingredients
- 4 small Kohlrabi/ Knol kohl
- 1 cup Coconut
- 3-4 Green chillies
- 4 Garlic
- 1 piece Ginger
- 1.5 tbsp Coriander powder
- 10 Shallots
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Salt
- Kasuri methi
Recipe Notes
Peel off the skin and cut Knol kohl into square pieces. Add little water and Grind coconut, chillies, garlic and ginger into a thick paste.
In a pressure cooker heat oil and splutter mustard seeds. Add onions and saute till it turns golden brown.
Now add the kohlrabi pieces , coriander powder, grinded coconut, salt and 1 cup of water. Mix well and pressure cook for upto 4 whistles. Open the lid once the pressure is down.
Garnish with Kasuri methi. Knol khol Korma/ Kohlrabi Curry for Chapathi is ready.
