- Black Channa/ Black chickpeas – 1 cup
- Chopped Onion – 2
- Chopped Tomato – 2
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Curry leaves – a spring
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Red chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
- Chopped coriander leaves – a handful
- Oil – 1 tsp
To roast and grind:
- Coconut – 1/4 cup
- Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
- Red chilly – 3
- Cinnamon – 1 inch
- Cloves – 2
- Cardamom – 2
- Fennel seeds – 1tsp
Soak Chickpeas overnight for at least 12 hours. Add some salt and pressure cook it for 6 whistles.
Dry roast all the above ingredients.
Add 1 tsp of boiled chickpeas and grind to a paste.
In a kadai heat oil, add onions and curry leaves. Sauce it till brown.
Add tomatoes, coriander leaves and salt. Saute till becomes soft.
Add chilly powder and coriander powder.
Add the ground paste and sufficient water. Check for salt.
Add the boiled channa.Let it boil.
Serve with Puttu and some ripe bananas.
