Coconut Chutney Recipe for Idli/ Dosa
Coconut chutney is a very basic side dish which is usually served with Idli, dosa, vada, pongal and many more. I would say that this basic coconut chutney has become an integral part of our South Indian Cuisine. It is prepared almost everyday in all households. You go to any South Indian restaurant for breakfast, this chutney would accompany the main dish. The preparation of this chutney varies from place to place. At some places especially in Karnataka they add roasted Bengal gram (pottukadalai) and curry leaves, while in Andhra they add roasted peanuts. Here I have given the basic chutney recipe which is prepared in Tamilnadu and Kerala. You can try variations in this chutney like adding red chillies, coriander leaves or mint and create new chutneys of your choice.
