Chettinad Fish Curry
- Fish - 12 pieces
- Onion - 2 (cut into thin slices)
- Tomatoes - 1 (finely chopped)
- Garlic - 5pods
- Tamarind pulp - 1 cup
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves - a handful
- Gingelly oil - 2 tbsp
- Chopped coriander leaves - 1 cup
- Small onions - 10
- Red Chilly - 3
- Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
- Cinnamon - 1
- Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
- Grated coconut - 5 tsp
- Curry leaves - 6
Grind all the above ingredients to a smooth paste. Add salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice to fish pieces and keep it aside for 30 mins.
Heat oil in a pan. add mustard, fenugreek and curry leaves. Add onions, Crushed Garlic and sauce it till it turns golden brown.
Add tomatoes, turmeric powder and cook till oil separates.
Add tomato pulp and grinded paste and salt. let it boil for sometime.
Now add fish and let it cook in medium flame for 10 mins.
Add chopped coriander for garnishing.
