Chala Vattichadhu/ Mathi Vattichadhu
Chala Vattichadhu/ Mathi Vattichadhu is a very popular fish recipe in our Nanjil cuisine. Sardines/ Mathi/ Chala are cooked in a tangy onion sauce. Sardines are an excellent source of Omega 3 and hence it is very good for your kids.
- 20 Sardines
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil
- 20 Shallots
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 10-12 Red chillies
- 2 tbsp Coconut
- 20 Curry leaves
- 1 big Lemon size tamarind
- 3 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
Clean fish and keep it aside.
Take all the given ingredients for masala and grind it to a coarse paste(keep some curry leaves separately for garnishing).
Add this to the fish and let it cook slowly. Let it simmer for about 15-20 mins.
Atlast add the coconut oil and combine gently.
This Chala Vattichadhu is a great combination with rasam rice.
