Bread gulab jamun Recipe/ How to make perfect Gulab Jamun with Bread
Gulab jamun...the name itself makes me mouth watering....and how about you??? I am sure it does for you too. I use to make it very often at home and everytime I crave for jamuns I buy a MTR gulab jamun mix and prepare it within minutes. This time i wanted to try something different and tried this bread jamun which was super easy too. And it looked sooo perfect which can equally compete with any store bought gulab jamuns. I got an overwhelming response at my home that I have already added this in my diwali sweets list 🙂 I have prepared this recipe using white bread but you can try this using brown bread also. - 8 slices Bread
- 3 tbsp Milk Powder
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 3-4 Green Cardamon
- few Saffron strands
- 1/8 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 cup Milk
- Oil To deep fry
- Pistachios for garnishing
In a sauce pan take sugar and water. Let it come to boil. Simmer the flame and add crushed cardamons and saffron strands. Let it boil and come to a sticky consistency. Now switch off the flame and let it rest.
Cut the edges of bread slices . Take it in a mixie jar and grind to a fine powder.
Add milk powder and baking soda to it and mix well. Add milk in batches and mix it without lumps. The dough is ready.
Heat oil in a kadai. Meanwhile apply some oil on palms and shape the dough into small balls.
Once the oil is hot fry the balls to nice golden brown. Gently stir the balls while frying so that it gets cooked evenly.
Remove it in a kitchen towel and drop it immediately in the warm sugar syrup. Let it rest for 3-4 hours.
Yummy gulab jamuns are ready. Serve it with some pistachios on top.
