A Day Trip To Bannerghatta National Park

This weekend we had been to Bannerghatta national park and I must say that the experience was very delightful. We have seen animals caged in zoo, but this experience of entering into a forest where the animals are set free to roam around was very fascinating.

This park is situated about 22kms from Bangalore. If you are staying in Bangalore this is perfect for a day trip.

We reached there by 10 am and had to wait for 45 mins to get a ticket to grand safari. Since it was a weekend there was a huge crowd. I would rather suggest you to book tickets online to avoid such waiting. We got safari slot for 12 pm and so we had so much time on hand.

We went to the butterfly park and spent nearly 30 mins inside there. The interior of butterfly park was really very beautiful. Hearing the name we were expecting some colourful butterflies flying all around, but it was very disappointing to see only one variety(a light brown kind) was there everywhere. I was seriously searching for something exciting but I failed.

After that we sat down for a while, munching our snacks and waiting for our bus. We opted for a A/C mini bus which was Rs. 500/- per person. But if we are going in a group of 6 or 7 you can go for a jeep safari.

Our bus arrived and once we entered into the park we saw so many deers roaming everywhere, drinking water, running  and crossing roads. It was very exciting to search for animals everywhere and showing others. The driver was very good he stopped everywhere and waited patiently for us to click pictures.

After that we got see elephants standing near pond having fun…

We went inside bear gate where you can see bears walking casually on road.

Then comes the real excitement…Tigers and Lions taking rest after full meals 🙂

They were very close to us near our bus. Our fellow passengers were shouting in joy. Kids were  shouting and our daughter was very excited to see animals which I have shown her in books and cartoons. She desperately wanted to get down and go near that tiger..I had to convince her throughout the journey that we are locked inside the bus..

After that we entered the zoo. Even though it was not as good as Mysore zoo you can have some nice experience.

Overall it was a great experience for all of us!!! Its really worth your time…
